"Goa trance" isn't dead but it's not used much as a label anymore. Goa is a city in India, on the central west coast of the country. It's always been kind of a resort town and young-kids club city. Back in the day I had a girlfriend who had friends there and who used to get white-labeled CDs sent from the DJs who spun there. So that was cool.
Goa still produces a lot of music but most of what I hear from there these days gets classed as psy trance. That said, I think there's a lot of hair-splitting in the labels and maybe that doesn't help as much as people think it does.
