More elder-child milestones

"You have to stop calling and asking me this stuff. I'm not your live Player's Handbook!" (I'm certain one of you brilliant people will teach him about RTFM any day now.)
And yesterday he missed the bus because he was absorbed in a book.
I continue to be equal parts amused and annoyed. I'm beginning to be convinced he's more my kid than Pygment's though, because when I threatened to make him walk to school if he missed the bus again today Pygment tried to give him directions. And K gave her exactly the same uncomprehending look I give her when she tries to give me directions.
K turns 10 this weekend. Some day he'll read this. Happy birthday kiddo - we love you lots!

Something I resolved a while ago was to make sure that when I dropped RTFM into a youngster's vocabulary, I would first assign the values "furnished" and "materials" for F and M. Partly to avoid problems with smart kids and not-as-smart teachers, but mostly because it would be a fun prank on their older (probably college-aged) selves when the etymology is more thoroughly explored.
