I believe that the people who read my LJ are intelligent, considerate, and have a healthy respect for privacy. Thus I do not consider it necessary to explicitly ask them not to break my confidence, be it on-line or in person. This includes using any tool that would link my LJ name to any other online presence I might have.

I can't claim a whole lot of originality here. Several people on my f-list have posted variants of this; I just edited the verbiage a bit.
