It's not only going to be in the Avengers, it's going to be in "Captain America: The First Avenger". Hiddleston has confirmed that Loki will be in The Avengers. I too missed that JMS wrote the screenplay. I even missed his cameo appearance. I admit that I had little experience with the Avengers comic book prior to watching this film, so my perceptions of the characters are different.
