WTF am I doing here (photography)

Three versions of an image. This is new territory to me. I am soliciting opinions, if you care to give yours.

Three versions of a shot with the assignment "take a picture of light". Well, a light is one way to do that, I guess. So here's where I started. I could just leave it alone.


One option is to brighten it up. This version makes the light brighter and the stair-step a little clearer:


Another option is to darken it. This version tries to force the viewer to ignore details of the context more, but also darkens the light itself.

... another thing you might could do is make the contrast starker? In some way bring out the structure of the light fixture, without making things glare?

Just a thought, but with no suggestions as to how to do it.

I keep looking at them with my itty bitty not so useful screen, so I can only see 4/5 of a picture at a time. Not helpful :/
From what I can see, I actually like the original best.
