In a month of posting, day 1
Inspired by
surrealestate and others, I'm going to try to post at least a little something most days this week. I tend not to read LJ on weekends so there might be lulls, and there will be travel days. But we'll see where this goes.
It's hard to know what to say to introduce myself or something. Most of the people who are still around reading this are people who've known me a long time. If there's something you'd like to know, feel free to ask.
Having people know me for a long time is both good and bad. For most people I'm not (just) who I am now, I'm the arc of who I've been over the time they've known me. I try to improve myself, to examine my life, to evolve, to adapt to change. But that doesn't mean people change with me, or that the change in me erases what they've known and interacted with in the past. It's not possible to escape your past, even if you want to - which, mostly, I don't.
The plus side of this is that I've got friends now who've been friendly with me for a significant chunk of my life. Thinking back on it, that hasn't happened since childhood. I rather like that. My friends, let me introduce you to them.

The fact that you do work on yourself to improve, evolve is one of the things I love most about you. I appreciate all the work you do and are continuing to do.

I've really enjoyed getting to know you through your LJ, because one of the things that has showed me is just how thoughtful and self-reflective you are.

Well said and to some extent, true for all of us, I think.
