After having Too Many Days With Plans I worked as hard as I could at not having plans this weekend, and mostly succeeded.

Friday I totally and completely lamed on my elder son's "Italian Night" at school. Pygment went with him and I put the younger to bed and enjoyed some peace & quiet. It's highly amusing to have an almost-eight-year-old going around the house exclaiming "Mama mia!" at every opportunity, then peering at whatever parent is nearest to see if we'll react.

Saturday I lucked into an appointment for a haircut with my boys at DHR. Usually I have to book weeks out for a Saturday but they had just happened to have a cancellation when I called on Thu. I had planned to make it a fast hit-and-run but Pygment needed some alone time for her own life maintenance, so I took both boys with me. They played with the robots and toys at DHR, then we went for Thai. We briefly saw [livejournal.com profile] nchanter who gave me a nice hug.

The boys coped pretty well, considering. It's really nice to feel like I can take them to places and have real conversations about what they want to eat and what the options at the current place are.

Saturday night we stayed in and amused ourselves, including watching the first episode of Heroes. With software installs. Don't ask.

Sunday I ended up needing to take K to his friend's birthday party. Lazer Tag. In a big cavernous LOUD amusement arcade/arena. I probably spent only about 2 hours there and still ended up with a whopper of a headache. That plus drive time pretty well shot the afternoon - oh well. Pygment took the younger to a clothing swap, then in the evening took both out to see a new baby and deliver chicken soup. More p&q for me, yay!

I'm pretty sure this is NOT what my first-grade teacher meant when she told me to "mind my p's and q's" but I'll take it.

(P.S. Any Monday morning in which you have to be careful that your short-sleeved shirt is properly covering the teeth marks on your bicep is not a wholly bad Monday morning. Just in case you were wondering.)

Sounds like a pretty good weekend, overall. Sorry to hear about the headache.

Glad you got some p & q time. :-)

I read that as "peeing at whatever parent is nearest." This is my brain on insomnia. *grin*

Glad you got through the lazer tag thing. I know that created a lot of stress for you.

Glad you had a mostly low key weekend. I was wondering how the lazertag was for K? We're exploring different venues for I's next bday party and I had thought that kind of thing might be too much for a bunch of 8 year olds...

He said he'd like his party there. I'm not so sure about this.

The not having his younger sibling at the party would be a plus for I. Having to explain why it's (maybe) ok to pretend to shoot his friends (after many years of discouraging such things) may be less ok for us though... It's complicated.
