Happy birthday to me

It's true that, technically, my birthday was about two weeks ago. As I posted then my friends got together to help me get something that I've wanted for a while - a digital SLR.

This morning I ordered a Nikon D40 SLR kit. The package I got included an 18-55 and a 55-200 lens and I added a few accessories. I'm slightly sad not to have it for the party today, but buying online (thank you inahandbasket for the pointer to BuyDig) saved me about $150-200 over the best deals I found elsewhere.

I went with the Nikon because I've found their bodies feel more comfortable to my hands. The D40 is particularly aimed at people like me, with lots of ease-of-use features I found attractive. I have 30 days to try it out, so we'll see if I discover something amiss once I start using it, but I suspect not.
