I'm hoping that someone on my f-list knows, or knows someone who knows, a person working in IT for a Major Bank in New York. I'm talking on the order of Deutschebank, Goldman, JPMC, CSFB - that level of investment bank. I'd like to ask one or two questions about IT in such institutions and what's available on teh Intartubes isn't helping me.

I known several consultants who work with banks of that level well. I have contacts at banks of that level but would be reluctant to forward random out-of-context questions to them.

I have a friend who does IT in the auditing department of a Major Bank in New York (at least, I'm pretty sure that's what he does--we don't often talk about work). What sort of questions do you need answered? I'd be happy to pass them on and see if he can help.

I'm not that close to him. We were both members of the GWU chess club in the late 70s. Over the last 20 years, I see him once or twice a year at a tournament and we sit and chat for 15-20 minutes. At one time, he was on my team every year at a team tournament in NJ. I have no problem passing any questions you have on to him and letting him decide whether to get back to you. Or I can send him an email asking if he'd be willing to get in touch with you (in which case, more specificity would also help).

Oh, and if it makes any difference, I'm pretty sure that he handles computer security related issues.

No, Peter works for Bloomberg, a financial services company. But
bankers use the info his company provides. Does that count? He also
worked for the United Bank of Switzerland (UBS), but only in
Switzerland, not in New York.

Is that good enough for contacting?
