Between breaking my (third set of) Koss headphones and a work trip to the NY office I'm a bit behind on mostly everything and particularly audio. On the plus side, new sounds. Listen along, but you probably want headphones for a couple of these...

Easy E is not radio-safe, in case you'd forgotten. He was some serious hardcore gangsta rap, though I liked him better as part of NWA than as a solo artist. Here, Borracho! (http://www.myspace.com/vivaborracho) who also fancies himself a hardcore DJ type, has remixed one of E's tracks, giving it a high energy, high BPM profile. I'm told that borracho is Mexican slang for drunkard, but this is much more dancing music than drinking music.

Last month's Florence + the Machine item was dance-hall standard. This one is more space/trancey, which fits her style better, I think. The credited remixers are P.E.S.T. who might or might not be any of several bands/DJ combos calling themselves "Pest." Let me know if you figure it out, but enjoy this track in the meanwhile.

If you took your headphones off for the last one you might want to put them back on for this latest offering from DJ Schmolli. My favorite remixer of hard metal sounds is at it again, working with the disturbing but awesome Marilyn Manson track "This Is The New Shit" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kQMDSw3Aqo). This is the unexpurgated version, which I like a lot better than the radio edit. The other track, Snitch Bros' "In Further Blackness" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VCO_tHgI54) - is also a hardcore rockin' hit in its own right, and Schmolli does an awesome job of putting the Bros' beats behind Manson's vocals.

Mashup Industries has online their entire selection for the Club Addition 3 CD and you can stream the whole thing. For my money it's mostly OK stuff, some tracks I've pointed to before, but the thing that most stood out for me in this stream was the very first track, Elocnep - Tepr goes right round. I think that's largely because I'm still fond of the Flo Rida "Right Round" remix that I linked to several months ago. Elocnep (Pencole? - http://www.myspace.com/djelocnep) has done some nice things here and I'll have to check out his MySpace offerings.

And now I give you Simon Iddol, whose personal site is at http://audioporncentral.com/ . He's a prolific music blogger and he puts together some amazing set mixes. Unfortunately, they're hard as hell to get in downloadable form. If anyone finds a torrent or something let me know.

Soundcloud has an Iddol "promo mix" with six mash-ups, three of which I've heard before. The whole thing is shades of brilliant.

Sixteen tracks, almost a solid hour of mash-up goodness. I can't even begin to dissect this one - suffice it to say that it goes from high point to high point, including a couple of mixes I'd heard before and a bunch of very cool new stuff. And yes, there are bits in the mix that people aren't going to like (MJ for me, BEP for MizA) but the whole is much better than the sum of its parts.
