Yesterday I went back to the urologist's office to have the final procedure done. Things went OK and I'm now plastic-free and stone-free. Follow-up in six months to have an ultrasound. Like all these visits I learned a lot and I've got a data sheet I want to summarize (but left at home) relating to diet.

The following makes ME cringe so here goes the cut
You sure you want to know this stuff? )
The urologist was emphatic about not wanting to see me for six months, at which point we'll do a kidney ultrasound to see how things look. The definitive diagnostic tool is still a CT scan, but that's a lot of radiation to get on a regular basis so we'll go with something milder unless there's evidence of another stone.

Which there should not be, if I do things the right way, about which more in the next medical post.

We waste our time waiting for the ideal path to appear. But it never does. Because we forget that paths are made by walking, not waiting. And no, you shouldn’t feel more confident before you take the next step. Taking the next step is what builds your confidence.

What’s the next step you’ve been thinking about taking, for far too long?

This prompt feels repetitive with others. I don't think I'm an idealist in this sense, nor am I waiting for just the right moment to do something. I'm doing it.

If there's a thing, I suppose, that I could talk about in addition to what I've touched on before I'd say it has to do with my trying to find the right meaningful ways for me to #resist. I've been hampered the past few months by physical things that have kept me out of marches and protests. I live in a very blue state and my Congresscritters are pretty good about the things I care about. I call them from time to time and thank them for doing what they can. Sometimes I call my (nominally Republican) governor about stuff but really he's an OK guy.

I've tried to get involved with a couple of the Jewish organizations that are doing pro-refugee work (another long post about that is coming) but most of them are congregation-focused. They work with the leadership of a synagogue and that leadership brings members. It's an efficient model for them, but not so helpful to me.

So I'd say I've been thinking about taking further steps toward resistance but haven't found a way that works with my limitations. Does that count?
