It tickles me pink when people tell me that they're actually listening to the stuff I post. If you do, even if you hate it, please let me know.

DJ Clivester continues to have his relationship dramas out via his mash-ups. This is kind of an odd process but it leads to some good mixes so... *shrug*. This mix takes two tracks I hadn't heard before,
Vitalic's "Poison Lips" (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xamsvb_vitalic-poison-lips-from-the-album_music) a slightly creepy concept set to Sino-pop-dance melodies, and Kosheen's "Catch" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02exfOzdQOI) which I've heard used before in other mixes. The resulting "Catch Your Lips" is more positive than either underlying tune, and carries Clivester's signature high-bpm dance tempos.

I have mentioned my weakness for certain 80s hair metal, right? I'm really not a big fan of Bon Jovi, but it works extremely well here as a scratch-and-sample source. This mix, by Dj Grey is all over the Web but I can't find anything on the DJ himself, nor what track(s) he's mixing against. Still, very house-dance-able.

http://hypem.com/#/track/951357/Three+6+Mafia+feat.+Tiesto+Flo+Rida+Sean+Kingston-Feel+It+%28Partners+House+Remix%29
This one is an all-hands-in house mix that grabs bits and snippets from everywhere, particularly the bits from Tiesto and Flo Rida. Or maybe I hear those more because I'm more familiar with their sounds. It's kind of odd listening to what's obviously crunk spliced in with low-BPM house but it works. If you're not bopping along by the end of this one then you probably dance to a different beat than I do.

This one caught my eye because of the tag "Finally! A song sampling Daft Punk that's ACTUALLY GOOD." Amen. Too many bad remixes of Daft Punk to count, but this one is really novel, not least because Just A Band (http://blog.just-a-band.com/2009/07/usinibore/) combines African rhythms with funky house. Yes, three of my favorite things that taste great together. If the rest of the album is this good I'm getting it.

Shakira has not a big favorite of mine. She has not been terribly innovative and frankly there are enough nice-tits-no-sing bouncing around the music scene already. This one has some potential, though. It's kind of synth-heavy, but when the producers let her voice go she powers it up a bit.

Another cool rip from Radio One - this is the White Lies (http://www.whitelies.com/) covering Kanye West's "Love Lockdown", live. The White Lies have always lived in that gray space between boy band (they're too old and not even trying to be that photogenic), emo band (they're clearly having too much fun despite the requisite all-black clothing), and straight-up rock&roll. They do a bang-up job making this track their own on the cover.

I listen to some of them. I haven't found anything I love yet, but I'm always open to expanding my musical tastes.
