I have a desire to find a gift for a young-at-heart adult that has literal bells and whistles on it. The obvious train solutions either seem to lack one or the other, or to be aimed at the very juvenile who are presumed to be the only ones who enjoy such things.
So I turn to you, my esteemed readers - what kind of gift can you suggest that has bells (one or more), whistles (one or more) and is NOT made of bright primary-colored plastic?
I'd recommend easy-to-play musical instruments like a pennywhistle and a set of chimes like these (http://www.forsmallhands.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=79_97_747), along with some little instruction booklets. I always get a kick out of stuff like this, and keep a recorder, a pennywhistle, and a little hand drum in my junk drawer to fool around with once in a while.
Don't ask me why, I guess 'cause I love marble runs. I always played with them when I worked at The Construction Site toy store on Moody Street (now Gone)
