I would like it if people would tell me - and the reading public since this entry is unlocked - something you are doing in pursuit of a goal. You should not list the goal itself, just talk about something you are actually doing.

Since this is an open entry you can even write anonymously should you so choose.

I'll go first: I am not raising my voice. This is harder than it sounds given the environment I was brought up in and one of my first responses to intense emotion is to get loud.

I think it's going pretty well so far. How about you?

Each week

This is ironic -- given where I am and what I am doing -- but my goal is to limit internet use at work. So far I am managing by giving myself a tiny number of allowed sites (LJ is one, obviously). It's tough, especially when, like today, work consists of endless tedium and I'm not enough of a geek to figure out a way to automate said tedium!

I'm refraining from getting involved in arguments that are like bashing your head against a wall repeatedly. At least, when I can see them coming, I'm refraining.

My goal is to lose 50 pounds by the end of the year. It is a step toward my goal. You said to not tell you the goal.

I am listening to what my body needs and related to that- expecting what those needs and limitations are change whenever it damn well pleases.
Also related: learning how to be OK with not being able to plan as much as I'd like.

I'm following an MD ordered precise medical regimen that includes walking three miles per day but otherwise resting to recover from robotic prostate surgery this past Wednesday with the immediate goals of dissipating gas that was pumped into me during the procedure to facilitate a laparoscopic camera and restoring digestive function following anesthesia, and the longer term goals of regaining urinary continence and sexual potency.

I'm learning how to dance the political playground in order to achieve a much desired goal. The challenge is for me is how to smile at those whom I do nor=t care for and no one be none the wiser.

Running three times a week, with some associated exercise. (I manage about two times a week, which I've decided, given the lack of routine in my schedule, is pretty good). Learning how to read, analyze, and write a business case (on the business school model).

And of course (and there's no point trying to conceal this goal, so I'm not gonna), gathering everything we need/want to prepare for the arrival of our family's first child in March.

Did I neglect to inform you? I know that your wife knows, as we saw her at TBC and Aimee was most definitely showing by then. I thought that you and she had a panel at Arisia this year, but I could be misremembering. Either way, many thanks!

Getting in better shape.
I've been dealing with it by trying to jog from work three times a week, and minor diet changes. Recently I've been adding weight lifting for the upper body on the days when I jog, but that's gone away while I'm on vacation since I don't have my weights with me.

It's remarkably easy to go "Oh, I won't do it today" or "Oh, it's too icy". Got over the icy problem by using the exercise bicycle then... but it's an effort of will.
