Habitually, I check for new mail that has arrived during the time I've been reading mail. Today, this exercise told me that there were six new messages. Five were spam, and one was a comment in a discussion about spam.

your running sendmail or qmail? there are options to block most spam.

qmail, and it's an old one. Spam filtering is being done presently on the client end with qmail set simply to block relay access and a few other such tricks.

the typical reverse dns verify is on?

I'm running exchange, I'm thinking of putting a the centos server as a f/e smtp (Redhat Enterprise) but free. I'll let you know how it goes since Shazza is getting hit.
