Weird starts to the morning

I just got a headhunting call.... from DUBAI! (I checked the call log and it's international; havent cross-checked the country code, but why would someone spoof that?)

I'm half amazed and half amused. They must be really desperate. I told them to email me something and we'll see what they think they're looking for that is worth spending international long distance minutes on.

EDIT: just when I think my morning can't get any weirder, this gem crosses the Viridian list. Guess who the world's biggest purchaser of organic cotton is? If you guessed "Wal Mart" then you cheated.

Huh. Well, my opinion of Wal-Mart is generally unfavorable, but I appreciate that their purchasing of organic cotton is a very good thing overall. Now, if they would only stop doing other things I find distasteful....

I covered a tournament in Dubai a few years back and thought it absolutely reeked. Lots of glass and steel skyscrapers; midtown-Manhattan with palm trees; any character it may once have had long since bulldozed under. On the other hand, it has a large Western expat community who adore it. No accounting for tastes.
