I blame Rowan.

You see, she posts these occasional band or song links in her LJ and I usually give them at least a cursory listen. They're off the beaten track, usually non-American, and I like new stuff. So I blame her.

She was the first one who linked me to Dan le sac vs. Scroobius Pip. Specifically, she linked to their Thou Shalt Always Kill track, which is an amusing intellectual rap of the sort I enjoy. Cool. Not terribly musically interesting, though.

Then I clicked the related link and got to The Beat That My Heart Skipped. And now I'm obsessively trying to figure out what the track is that he's rapping over. I feel like I should know it, but I can't call it to mind. BOM bom bom baddy bam, baddy baddy bam, ba-am, bom bom.

If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Interestingly, the version on the band's MySpace page is a little more layered and complex than the version used in the video. I can hear at least three additional tracks mixed in that one.

(Oh, and they're playing at the Paradise in Boston next month. I'm debating going, just to see how they are live.)
