Every frame
Mar. 26th, 2015 02:52 pmI'm certain that I've pushed Tony Zhou's "Every Frame a Painting" series at you before, but in case I haven't, you really should watch his stuff. He does the kind of analyses I like to do about film-making but he's much better at analyzing things I can only wave at intuitively.
Two recent short ones:

I love this one in part because it's watching Kurosawa, who I think is one of the most brilliant directors ever

This one is about the recent film "Drive" which several of the people I read said was good but from the description it didn't appeal to me. Zhou shows what the filmmaker does that makes it a better movie than you'd inherently expect.
This sort of thing makes me squee. But I'm weird.
