I put myself down all the time because I'm disabled, and I'm not up to much. My one activity is writing fan fiction -- not even "real" writing -- so that's clearly worthless, right?
Then I got a note from a reader who told me that she had a chronic illness that left her in a lot of pain, and every time I posted a story, she found them so engaging that she forgot about her pain for the amount of time it took her to read it. Well. Okay, it's only fan fiction, but I gotta say, that sounds pretty damned worthwhile. :-)
We make a difference in the life of every person we talk to; it's just that there are no Nobel prizes for Great Achievement in Making sweetmmeblue Feel Loved or any of the other worthwhile things we do in our daily lives.
