The (we hope) penultimate kidney stone update

Yesterday I went in for an ultrasound that checked for new stones and also to see if my ureter had healed properly.

No stones, yes healed. Whew.

I will need another ultrasound in 6 months as a final check to see that stones are not forming but if that one is clear and I'm symptom-free (by then it will have been a year) we'll call this a one-time thing and be done with it. Yay! I'm likely to try keeping my diet modifications though the doc would like me to be even more low-protein than I've been.

Congratulations! I would think a low protein diet could be somewhat problematic given that restaurant menus and the like seem to be trending more towards low carb / paleo of late.

Yeah, low protein is a problem for American eating in general. As I mentioned in earlier enties on this whole mishegos the bigger issue seems to be beef protein and I've reduced out a lot of beef already for other reasons. I've been experimenting around with what I can realistically do in terms of vegetable proteins, but with only minimal success so far.
