1. Michelle returns to MA tomorrow (Monday) late in the day. She has a ride home from the airport.
We will sit shivah here from Tuesday through Friday at sundown. Services Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Non-Jews should not feel like they can't be present. If you are able to help make a minyan that'd be much appreciated. Michelle will be happy to have visitors during the week - calling ahead is probably best. If you need our address, phone, or directions please drop me a mail at gmail or reply here with an address I can send to.
I'm taking Monday off from work to finish getting the house in order and to shop, since item #2 below totally shot my weekend plans to pieces.
2. Unfortunately, Saturday morning, shortly after I sent out the notice of Ima's death, the Linux box HOVIR committed seppuku. That machine hosted the mailman server for the invites list. If you replied to my original message I'm sorry but your mail was probably bounced or lost.
If you were on our invites list you should have received an email from me about a google group I set up. I decided to put the google group together because I couldn't tell how long it would take me to get a replacement machine up and functional. I know Google Groups aren't an ideal solution and I'm sorry that some of you got pushed into signing up - in theory your non-google email addresses should work. You only need a gmail handle to access the Web functionality.
I'm hoping to have the list back in operation by mid-week but that's a little late for coordinating shivah.
3. This has been a stressful week. Missing Michelle, dealing with my own grief, dealing with the kids and their responses, missing Michelle, trying to keep the household functional, then the computer catastrophe and did I mention how much I miss my wife?
Several people came to my rescue this weekend.
ariesd came with hardware, software, and a big pile of clue when I really needed it.
taura_g and
mizarchivist brought food and good company, as well as kid distraction.
desiringsubject,
tigira and family, and (EDIT)
wren13 all took time to entertain two active and challenging boys. And not coincidentally keep their dad from having a total meltdown.
Fall down go boom now.
