Conversations in our kitchen
Feb. 1st, 2008 05:46 pmL has been obsessively saving seeds from every apple he eats in hopes of planting them. We've explained that he can't just keep them. So he has to throw them out...
L, putting seeds in the trash: "Bye bye seeds - see you in the summer!"
Pygment giggles at the cute, which distracts L further from the food.
Me: "Aren't you supposed to be eating?"
L: "I'm full of it!"
Both parents crack up at this.
Pygment, unable to stop giggling: "OK, I'm tired."
L: "You can sleep in my bed!"
Pygment: "No, I can't."
L: "Why not?"
Pygment: "It's not big enough for me and daddy."
L: "You could try..."
Me: "No, we know it won't work. See, mommy and I both went to college..."

Date: 2008-02-02 03:29 pm (UTC)And... K is also saving apple seeds. And then she runs out into the backyard, digs a hole, plants them and waters them. I'm contemplating buying some kind of small seedling in the spring and planting it overnight in the spot. To hell with science. I figure if we can celebrate the tooth fairy, we can extend a little magic to the realm of horticulture! ;)
