The wondrous mind of five

L is growing at such a rate these days it's hard to keep track. This AM I was watching him reach the bathroom sink faucet with ease.

Me: "You're SO big!"
Him: "Yup!"
Me: "How did you get so big? I wasn't looking."
Him: "It's because I ate TWO mustard-and-cheese sandwiches."
Me: "Oh, really?"
Him: "Yes, they were adult-sized sandwiches so I had to get bigger to fit them both in."

Soon, I think, he won't fit in my lap anymore.

then there's when you realize you can no longer comfortably sling them on a hip, or carry a sleeping child to bed

I can still do that with both but I prefer to give them piggy-back rides as the weight distributes better.
