The materials could be had for $20 to $25. The Kureyon yarn, while a bit pricey, is, trust me, the *right* yarn for the project! It is 100% wool and the colors are very funky... I think the Fabric Place in Woburn carries it. I am pretty sure that there would be enough yarn for two critters.

And hm, I am going to be traveling to Florida by minivan next week, and while I will be doing some of the driving, I might have time to knit as well... It might come out a bit funky looking, but that's the point, right???

The yarn they use in the pattern is expensive yarn so you'd be looking at ~$20 depending on how much the local yarn store sells that yarn for. If you were to use cheap worsted weight yarn you could probably make two of them with one skein of each color because kureyon is a smaller hank than cheap worsted.
