Summer cold, blah. Given that I'm the first in the family to get it I'm guessing it came from a cow orker. Since I'm supposed to have company tonight and family arriving tomorrow this is... suboptimal.

So far it's not severe, just annoying. I had too little sleep last night, punctuated with vivid interesting dreams. Apparently I can get vivid dreams just from having the cold - no meds were involved.

I did finally take meds at about 4A because the pain in my ears and inability to breathe were making sleep difficult. Of course, decongestants are stimulants so an hour later I'm WIDE FRELLING AWAKE THANKYOUVERMUCH.

Sorry to those I missed at Diesel last night. I'll be staying home today as well and trying to sleep this off.

It might not be a cold. Right now there is some allergen in the air that is causing a lot of people problems. I've been *off* for the last 24 hours or so. And I know a couple folks at work are feeling it too.

Hrm. This *feels* like a cold, but you're right a bad allergy situation could mimic that. I'll keep taking antihistamines for another few days and see if that helps.

I was beginning to feel like I might be catching theloriest's cold but flonase seems to be mitigating symptons so I'm thinking allergies too.

I've found that if one takes a Benedryl along with the Sudafed, the drowsiness of the one counteracts the wakefulness of the other.

Unfortunately, my experience is that I tend to "roller-coaster" with that combination of meds. I get cycles of AWAKE-SLEEPY-AWAKE-SLEEPY rather than a balanced midline. My current solution is to take non-drowsy antihistamines and just be awake when I'm awake.

I passed out for a couple hours in the afternoon, then slept a bit under six just now. I'm up Too Frelling Early and still feeling tired, but AWAKE.

Grr. At least I feel reasonably OK, if not actually well.
