At Pi-Con this past weekend I shared panel space with Randall Munroe, author/artist of XKCD. The topic was "Technology and Sex" (*). At one point I made an off-hand remark about the chart that attempted to graph all sexual fetishes, which made the rounds many months ago. Munroe had, apparently, never seen this.

Of course, being math geeks, the notion of trying to map fetishes turned into a set-of-all-sets joke among the panelists. Which is now immortalized in a comic: http://xkcd.com/468/

I'm TOTALLY jazzed.

(*) One of the awesome things about Pi-Con (Arisia programming please take note!) was that some events were clearly labeled "18+" and though there weren't many kids in attendance who needed to be kept watch on it was very freeing as a panelist to be able just to assume that the entire audience was adult and had come with the understanding that NC-17 material was on the bill.

I really liked today's comic anyway, but that's really cool that you inspired it!

They did the 18+ thing at Arisia for at least one year, and it made me feel more comfortable about bringing my teenage daughter and letting her run around on her own. I wonder why they don't do it anymore...
