Meme, with a family twist
Oct. 31st, 2008 03:41 pmCopy this sentence into your livejournal if you're in a heterosexual marriage/relationship (or if you think you might be someday), and you don't want it "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.
Because, really, I can't think of a single person on my f-list who thinks discrimination is a good idea at all. And I know at least a couple of my readers are themselves in same-sex marriages, or equivalently committed relationships. And I've donated to "No on 8" and urged those of you who have extra cash for such donations to do the same. Or volunteer, if you happen to live in CA.
Then I got this in the mail: http://www.victoriousopposition.com/index.php/site/comments/im-invoking-godwins-law-on-prop-8/
That's my brother. Who is not exactly known for his open-mindedness. Or his liberal leanings. And who is sending them
thousands
of
dollars
I am... amused. Awed. Surprised. Pleased beyond measure. Proud.

Date: 2008-10-31 08:51 pm (UTC)Holocaust: I think you missed the point.
Then again, it's also dumb because the Holocaust persecuted gays too, which is what they're doing. Um, think much?

Date: 2008-11-01 01:30 am (UTC)Luckily, we don't have to win this one, just fail to lose it, and with the measure polling at about 44% in favor the number of people voting no is less relevant. (Sure, I'd like everyone to be against this ass-hatted measure, but I'll be happy with <50% for it, this election.) Me, I already voted no. If I can't vote often, at least I can vote early.
