Tell me a story, please
Nov. 24th, 2008 10:29 amI've though StoryCorps was brilliant since I first heard of it, and I like the idea of this project. I tell a lot of stories myself and I enjoy hearing others' stories.
The day after Thanksgiving is a working day for me, so excuse me if I steal this idea and push it out in a different form: Tell me a story. Write it in comments here, blog it and send me a link, sit with me over a cup of tea or a lunch. Whatever works for you.
And if you do try this at home, please write and tell me about it.

Date: 2008-11-24 04:20 pm (UTC)It was August 1985 and we were sitting on the back porch with a lot of green leafy tree limbs hanging over the edges of the railing. With our back to the house it looked like we were sitting in a clearing with a huge expanse of trees ahead of us. The perfect setting to start out a campaign occuring in a Forest. (I don't remember the name of it now)
GW was pleasantly surprised and excited by how well Z and I slipped into character and interacted on that level. But it was the actual role-playing that attracted us the most. We sparred with each other over our characters quirks either predetermined or discovered on the spot in between skirmishes and plot driving events that GW put us though.
It was four hours and the shortest campaign I ever played but it was loads of fun. Z and I were hooked from that moment and it wasn't long before GW brought us into his weekly Sunday game that we played together for the next three years. Those three years of playing D&D together with Z and our D&D buddies were the closest I have ever had with any one of my siblings. It was the one part of High School that I really always remember with fondness and fun.
