I'd like to know if anyone has experience installing and configuring Apache, php, & mysql on PCs, as well as making them play nicely together. I know I can download the packages and RTFM but if there's an easier approach I'd like to find it.

In the past I used nusphere, but they no longer make the simple package I used in the past. Currently they're pushing their $84+ php development suite, which is totally not what I need.

By PC's I'm guessing you mean "Windows" and not "non-server quality hardware"? (or both really).

I have done it, and honestly.....downloading and RTFM'ing isn't that tough. MySQL has an installer for Windows (use 5.1) and ISTR PHP did (or someone had one). It's been a long time, I forget if Apache did.

In short, I believe that downloading and RTFM'ing is the fastest way, b/c the installation isn't that tough, and the configuration is similar whether you're on windows or unix.

I'm assuming you're not a Cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com/) fan, or that it's not really feasible for what you're looking to do?
