I signed up for Facebook for charity purposes. No, really, this is what their email to me said:

Ah, ok. That makes sense, now. I understand.

Back when I was in FL, I was trained for hurricane center work with the ARC, and finally was made a hurricane evacuation center manager. I think I was 22 at the time! Alas, I did not get to do that job in Andrew because the school I was supposed to be at was in the direct path, ultimately flattened as a result. Instead I went to a friend's mother's critical care center to get them set up.

I still value what I learned from the ARC regarding disaster preparedness. I value a great deal of what they do.
