When LJ gave us certificates to donate I picked a project called "Moving Past the Dead White Men: Culturally Diverse Books." (http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=109721) Props to srl and desiringsubject, among others, who keep this kind of topic fresh in my mind.

Email today indicates that the project has been fully funded. It's always a gamble to try and figure out what exposure to one or two books may mean to an impressionable high-schooler. But it surely seems worth the effort to try.

I've been running on the ragged edge of exhaustion for a while now and fell face-first into it Sunday.

Rewind: Friday, Day of the Dead party. Excellent gathering full of people I didn't know. Ended up talking at random mostly to one particular unknown woman, who turned out to be [livejournal.com profile] okelle. We didn't figure this out until quite late in the evening when exchanging email addresses. As far as we can tell we've never had a face-to-face conversation before, though we've likely been at the same events.

Saturday, lazy house day. Kid wrangling, Pygment went out that night.

Sunday the time shift hit and I got even less sleep than usual. I've been waking up a couple times a night for weeks now - stressy dreams, disturbances of one sort or another. Sunday was a downward spiral. By mid-afternoon I was pale and shaky. I crashed out for a couple hours then got up to do my evening things. I mostly managed to make it through the night. 6 hours, three wakeups.

I'm in pretty severe levels of pain - this is probably a sinus thing or some other respiratory ick. Going to call doc in an hour to see if I can get in. Pygment likewise - she says the Sandman missed and instead of sprinkling sand in her eyes he filled her lungs with it.

What I'm going to do about my three job interviews this week? I dunno. Thank goodness none are today. I'll figure something out after I talk to the doc.

Update: does anyone but me think it's a bit freaky when the doc walks into the exam room wearing a mask? Anyway, probably a viral bronchitis of some kind but he put me on a 5-day azithromycin course just in case.
