I like reggae, too. Old-school Bob Marley stuff and a lot of the newer rap/reggae crossovers. There has also been a lot of use of reggae sounds and beats in the mix, most of which I haven't found as interesting as they could be. This one stood out, and it's a fun dance-y beat.

Some of you know I was raised a folkie. One of the best b-day presents I've ever gotten was Pygment getting us front-row seats to Steeleye Span at the S'ville Theater. The Jennys aren't up to that level yet, but give them time. This trio is still quite young but they've got it. Their site (http://www.thewailinjennys.com/) is more about merchandising than listening, but you can still find some WMAs there to get a sense for more of their sound. On this track they do a pure a capella that I really like (see also "vocal trance").

And finally, lest you think I've totally lost my cred, here we have top-of-the-charts rapper Jay Z doing his interpretation of "It's a Hard Knock Life". You know, the track from the Orphan Annie musical? Yeah, that. As always, the author of this blog is not responsible for any brain injuries you suffer from clicking on links he provides. The first one is always free, right?
