I've got a bunch of tabs open, so I'm going to try to close out a few early and maybe have time later in the day to go back for more.

Here's something interesting, but outside my usual tastes. Maluca is a Dominican-identified New York dance electronica singer. Her page contains three mixes of the same song, of which I like the middle one best. It's VERY fast beat, and a lot closer to drum-and-bass than my usual selections. But worth giving a few minutes to if you want to expand your musical horizons a bit.

After this month of exposure I'm going to have to take back my comments about Canadians and music. Here we have another Canadian duo, this time producers of some very interesting remixes calling themselves Jokers Of The Scene or JOTS. These guys have a bunch of tracks up on RCRD LBL and you can just stream the whole set from the link above. I'm fond of the "We are Golden" mix that starts this off.

Finally, something much more mellow than the two above: Underworld doing a live performance of "Born Slippy". That track, despite being something like 15 years old, still provides material and samples for all kinds of artists, including here the Underworld duo remixing themselves.

These guys have a way higher hit rate than anyone I've seen in a while. Good stuff.

DJ Schmolli - Roam You
A sentimental favorite that may only be appreciated by me and MizA. I love the B-52s and here they're being mashed up with Lily Allen's "Fuck You" track, which I blogged back on July 24th after a pointer to one of her other tracks.

Clivester - Mercy 4 Mutya
This triple mash tries to build on top of Groove Armada's "Song 4 Mutya" which is itself a hip-hop dance track with several samples (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lMJW4V49Yc). Duffy's Mercy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE2orthS3TQ) is a pretty standard old Motown-style track, a throwback to what Groove Armada is sampling from, and Dannii Minogue's "I Begin To Wonder" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FjDPMife_Y) gets added on top for some dance beats and a nice high vocal.

Marc Johnce - Feeling For Luxurious Love
Another triple mash using a less-popular Black Eyed Peas track, "I Gotta Feeling" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMxASjxRk1w), Gwen Stefani's slow sexy "Luxurious" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEpznTH9eZc), and Jason Hates Jazz's "Pray For Love" which itself has been remixed more times than I care to blog. Although it's not listed on the song notes I think Jonce is pulling in another beat line because the thing that makes this mash-up work is the way the rhythm lifts up the component tracks and I can't find that rhythm in any of the original items.

DJ Schmolli - You Give My Love A Bad Name
And speaking of making more in a mix than the components give you, take Justin Timberlake and Von Blowme... err Bon Jovi and prove that a good DJ can make aural magic out of crap componentry.
