A small moment of weekend amusement, and a comic

Saturday: mow lawn, whack weeds, trim edges.

Then, for fun, move every single piece of (heavy!) furniture in the bedroom. Grunt a lot - you know, manly like. Survive without so much as a scratch or bruise.

Sunday: do laundry. Break a fingernail.

I'm certain the god(dess) of fingernails is laughing at me just about now.

This amused me because I named both my MS thesis and the PhD. The MS was called "Modred" - as in 'that bastard' - and the PhD was Grendel, the monster that must be slain.

Those were the top-level directory names on my workstations for those projects and at a certain point in the process no one was allowed to say "thesis" or "dissertation" to me. They had to be referred to by their proper names.

I had a writing project that celticdragonfly nicknamed "the monkey", as in on my back. Had to scrap some, finally got the rest published in chunks this year. That's after having a complete draft in 2005.
