But evidence to the contrary has presented itself. Therefore, I share with you what I think is probably the best ad campaign since PC vs Mac was new and innovative: Oglivy and Mather's series for Post's "Shredded Wheat" cereal.

So, go to YouTube and search for "Post Shredded Wheat." You should get about 18 hits. Let's see if I can embed one of them here:

It's worth watching several of them. They combine surrealism with parodies of corporate culture, soap opera, and the same characters show up through the series. I had to stop watching them at the office because my cow orkers were looking at me oddly.

As contrived as it is (let's face it, Post is a corporation out to make money, plain and simple), the guy makes some good points.
As far as food goes, I have to agree again-- I'll look for the shortest ingredient label I can find, with the most amount of things I can recognize as coming from something I know.

I haven't looked at the ingredients panel of anything other than Weetabix (both I and my father are past employees of the 'Bix, so there's a certain allegiance); but if Post's product is just wheat-- as the guy says it is-- I can't imagine you can go that far wrong. As the guy said, wheat's got a whole lot of things in it that are good for you.
...Except that Weetabix is a much better product. :)

(You might try taking a Weetabix biscuit, and spreading jam on it, eating it like an "ordinary" biscuit. Tastes quite nice that way.)

This ad reminds me very much of the TV series Better Off Ted. (In tone, and in its sense of the absurd.)

I'm amused that the reminder that we've been missing a whole slew of American commercials for the past few years. Not that we watch much TV here, but the commercials are very different.
