I feel obligated to point to the discussion in the comments on that post, making the entirely plausible argument that the "too controversial to show" claim is just marketing.

Sounds interesting. "Too controversial" is obvious marketing, and possibly a bargaining maneuver to draw in some more bidders. I expect to be able to see it here in Texas without much trouble.

Well, more trouble than seeing any other movie . . . babysitters are the limiting factor.
