Nope. Can't imagine why you'd like the idea of this movie. I wonder if it'll have any plot. BTW we've seen this year's new sunglasses style.

and have we mentioned mila jovich with long hair??? :)

doesn't look like there's much hope on the plot, but the pretty might make up for it.

I'm still trying to get used to the black hair. I agree about the pretty, but there seems to be a lot of things breaking or blowing up and as I don't have the mentality of a pubescent boy, I don't find all the adrenaline stuff to be that much of a draw.

oh yes, i forgot to make my other comment, which was about them having obviously left out the N in "ultraviolent"...

that seems a rather simplistic and condescending way of putting it. i enjoy watching that sort of thing from a SFX/direction/art standpoint. the adrenaline i can take or leave.

I meant it that way, though I realize that such a stance won't win me many friends. I remember suffering through "The Crow" with all the violence, complete with screaming guitars. Yeah, I understand lots of folks like that stuff (meaning gratuitous glamorized bloodshed) and I'm glad that such movies make them happy, but we're all entitled to an opinion.

As for the SFX/art standpoint, I agree.

Shiny!

The first song in the trailer, the instrumental one, is by Rob Dougan; if you like, I can send it to you.

I hate it when they designate songs as "themes". "Ultra" by KMFDM is listed as the Ghost in the Shell theme everywhere, but dammit - GitS sucks ass, and that was one of my songs for my character Katrianna years before.

I expect it's just a placeholder. They do that all the time with movies that aren't released yet. Not to mention, putting in Matrix music helps subconsciously (or consciously) direct the potential audience to some degree.
Mind you, as with Matrix choreography, Ultraviolent is feeding on the Underworld-style maneuvers with the vampy jump, land, stomp. I wanna see a whole bunch of people at least leap like that- some sort of choreography. You know, just work it into conversation.

Missed Aeon. We'll have to have a violent femme flick marathon to compare Trinity/Underworld's Selene/Aeon/Ultra and so on. Maybe even have the original La Femme Nakita?
Now that you mention it, Morpheus was probably the beginning of the improbably leap-and-land thing, but when chicks do it in latex, it's more memorable. *grin*

hm... tempting, but my living room would need help to have more than about half a dozen people seated comfortably. i do have a medium-large TV of Doom, tho.

I watched it twice and I still don't get it. Is this another comic-book movie?

The whole time during that preview I just couldn't help but think...gee...how much *less* could they try to make her look just like Kate Beckinsale (sp?) for this movie?

From: [identity profile] heinleinfan.livejournal.com
Ummm...David said that sounded weird...

...I'm trying to say that they made her look pretty much exactly like Kate Beckinsale...

whatever.
