Autoerotic (http://www.myspace.com/autoerotique) are a club/house DJ duo from Toronto. I've listened to their MySpace page offerings and they're not bad, per se. But I find myself preferring their work remixing others, such as this track from RCRD LBL. It's still electro-tinged dance, but more melodic and with an overtone of the moodiness you'd get from the Cure.

A Facebook friend made a reference to the Boomtown Rat's "I Don't Like Mondays", a staple from my childhood. That sent me off on a bit of a chase that landed me on this remix, which is very nice. It still has the dramatic piano bits and disturbing lyrics from the original, but remixed with hip-hop sensibility. Mark'Oh is a German DJ who, it turns out, I've listened to in the past because his "Let This Party Never End" was popular on dance mixes some years ago. You can hear that and a couple more over at Last.FM (http://www.last.fm/music/Mark+%27Oh)

Another Web chase led me to this interesting upload. The basic bit is a new release that got played on the UK's Radio One, ripped, and has been hosted on a bunch of sites. The underlying track is hearable with the video on that page - it's more 80s-style emo male pop (Pet Shop Boys anyone?). The link you want, though, is the MP3 download on that page. This is the remix that caught my ear and it's an interesting transposition of the original into a fuzz-heavy, dance-beat context.

Here's a (Boston) local girl making good. Gina Turner (http://www.myspace.com/djginaturner) used to be heard on the Boston station WERS and spun in clubs in the city before heading west. The RCRD LBL page gives you two very different mixes of one of her tracks and you can find more on the MySpace page. It's deep house style, but with a very strong Latin/Spanish influence both in the lyrics and the beats.

And as long as I'm delving into languages I don't speak but should, here's a fun French (Belgian) pop-dance mix. If you go to the original blog entry (http://www.dudesblox.com/post/stromae-alors-on-danse-lecon-de-stromae-up-saw-liz-belge-hip-hop-electro-danse-beat-maker-kerry-james) you can watch the official video and listen to the remix and the original track, both of which are good.
I've still got half a dozen tabs open so I'll probably do another of these posts later if I get a break in the day.
