Me: Blizzard announced the collector's edition for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
Her: And... ?
Me (disappointed): It's 80 bucks, and you have to get it at a store - no online.
Her: Compared to?
Me: Probably fifty.
Her: Go for it.
Me: Really?
Her: Sure, we'll get new mousepads and amusing pets and stuff.
Me: We? I didn't realize this was a 'we' thing.
Her: What kind of gaming geek did you think you had married?

I think that by "only be available at retail stores" they mean that you won't be able download it from their on-line store. After all, it's hard to download a mouse pad and an art book.

Certainly Amazon and GameStop are both taking pre-orders for it.

And yes, ahf and I will be placing our order later today.

I had heard that it was only going to be available in physical stores and even those stores that were selling it were not going to be offering it on their web sites.

I'm curious where you heard that. The on-line retailers are restricting how many copies you can order, GameStop has it set to a max of 2 (and, interestingly enough, no in-store pickup) and Amazon is going with 1.

I read it on one of the blogs - not sure which. And when I called Gamestop I was told no limit on copies. So who knows?
