Pointer Update
Mar. 20th, 2006 02:15 pmAs of last Monday (3/13) I am working at Charles River Development (CRD) in Burlington, MA. Ten-minute commutes do not suck. I'm officially a "Senior User Interface Designer".

CRD is a company almost nobody has heard of, except in the financial services sector, where they're extremely well-known. They make systems for traders, portfolio managers, compliance officers and suchlike, particularly for large and institutional investors. Big money, in other words. They're privately held and solidly profitable.
I'm working in the "Paradigm" group, which is nominally a centralized group responsible for componentry used by all the different products. In practice the products are (have been) fairly independent and are only slowly coming to agree on common widgets, libraries, and service strategies. Part of my job is to shepherd the wildly different GUI components of this merger.
There are a decent number of openings here, primarily for developers and QA people. See http://www.crd.com/com_car.html
They hire slowly but the plan is to nearly double in size over the next two years.
