Well... sometimes they work. I wish they did more often. But at least one can bring some evidence to support one's recommendations and choices.

I too have health issues (http://davidfcooper.livejournal.com/674803.html), and this cartoon really speaks to me. I can't stand, for example, those Cancer Treatment Centers of America television commercials that pose a false dichotomy between empathy and science and emphasize the former at the expense of the latter.
