Diet Coke and Mentos

My friend docbug (docbug_feed) pointed to this moderately insane video of... well, Diet Coke and Mentos. They make quite an explosive combination. Apparently it's also a reproduction of the Bellagio fountain in Las Vegas. Never having made it to LV I can't comment on that aspect. Still... weird science!

(I realize I seem to be incapable of posting anything serious these days. Perhaps this is my subconscious way of dealing with the crap-awful weather. Happy Pride, people!)

It occurs to me that this could be a useful "time bomb."

Step 1: Cut a Mentos in half, so it would fit in the mouth of an open can of Diet Coke
Step 2: Coat the half Mentos in a food grade shell that will take a minute or two to dissolve.
Step 3: Drop into the can of someone at a party
Step 4: Wait a minute or two for the water show.
