Data are cool

I got pointed to this (http://www.gapminder.org/world) data-set visualization/animator as an example of playfully engaging UIs. Apparently Google is the monetary source behind it being put online. The originator is Hans Rosling, who showed the software at a TED talk in '06. The talk is awesome: http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/92 in part for its ability to use data to bust common myths. The fact that you can then go out and play with these same data yourself makes it even cooler, I think.
