Music, still too busy

Busy Signal - Cool Baby (Poirier Remix). More white-boy remixed rasta rap. I'd say I was the only one in the world who likes this stuff except people keep making it, which probably proves there are other freaks like me out there. This stuff is very heavily Calypso influenced and more energetic than your typical rasta riffs.

I'm sort of continually amused by the use of space travel themes and samples - particularly from various Apollo missions - by guys who weren't even born when men walked on the moon. Johnce's "Spaceman Shake It" is working off The Killers "Spaceman" track so some old NASA samples make sense.

Sometimes all it takes is one word. In this case it's thunder, and DJ PingPong lives up to his name by bouncing back and forth between the Prodigy "Thunder" track (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0uAsHKiR-c) that came out earlier this year and an old old favorite of mine.

Speaking of old favorites and new favorites, this one is a blast. Daft Punk is all over the place, of course, and mixing it with Usher's aggressive lyrics seems pretty straightforward. The brilliance here is in how the old rough edge of "Smoke on the Water" gets used. (I had trouble getting the MP3 to stream without interruption. You might want to go to mashuptown.com and download it for local play.)
