drwex | I Hate Mondays

Background: on mornings when both kids need to get to school, Pygment takes K and I take L. Those mornings we're usually running behind a bit and this AM it's worse. Everyone is up late, slow at the breakfast table, and we have to get trash and recycling out to the curb. Eventually Mom gets on the road with K and I finish up some house chores and head outside to take the recycling down to the curb.

At which point I experience one of those "Dude! Where's my car!?" moments.

It's impressive, really, what one's brain goes through when confronted with certain breaks in reality. Somehow a part of me believes that a ton-and-a-half of metal, glass and plastics can hide itself. And if I just look carefully enough at our parking spaces I'll see my car. Um, no. Three or four iterations of this and I finally remember...

Last night we all went to a function at K's school. Since it started at 6, Pygment picked me up at work and we all went in one car. Afterward we drove home and put the cranky kids to bed. Failing to remember to drop me back off at the office.

Also somehow, Pygment has gone outside twice this morning and failed to notice the missing car. It takes me and an empty driveway to parse this idiocy.

Oh and in the confusion I forgot to take the leaf bags down to the curb. Today is TOTALLY a Monday.
