Tomorrow (Dec 1) is World AIDS Day. Starbucks is generating a lot of press for itself by donating a whole nickel per cup of coffee.

Here's a thought: buy yourself a $1 cup of coffee someplace else and donate the difference directly. I'm personally fond of AIDS Action Committee but there are lots of organizations doing good work on the issue.

(Yes, it's nice that they're donating something; I'd just like them to be less self-serving about it.)
