The universe is a strange and wonderful place

And this time I literally mean the universe as "all that stuff out there." Today's APOD (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap070116.html) is my new work desktop background. Most cosmology studies things so distant they happened unimaginably long ago. This? This is a big honkin' star explosion. It happened 13,400 years ago. My brain can comprehend that.
