This sh*t can stop just any minute now
Jan. 17th, 2007 12:51 pmLast night while Pygment was at Diesel, L decided that mommy putting the CDs on a high shelf was so he had an excuse to stand on the arm of the couch and reach WAY up for them. This, not five minutes after we had a discussion about how he was not to go grabbing things off kitchen counters.
*WHUMP*WAAH*
I have to say that the sight of my child crying, face covered in blood, is a sight I can do without ever seeing again.
Fortunately I managed to find a few bk wipes after getting him seated in the bathroom. I'm sort of impressed I didn't panic or act visibly upset, which I think helped L stay calmer. He managed to open a decent gash in his eyebrow area. I also remembered my basic first aid - go me - and got some pressure on it, plus an ice pack.
My initial call to Pygment tripped to voicemail so I started a mental search pattern for who might be at Diesel. Of course, I have none of their cell numbers memorized, so I have to verbally guide K to getting my cell phone from my bag and bringing that to me so I can one-handed dial people while holding the compress on L's head with the other hand. (Thank you to all who did answer
Fortunately, the cold+pressure stopped the bleeding pretty quickly. Of course, all L wanted to do was play with it and start it up bleeding again.
Pygment got home in record time and decided to take him to the ER. No stitches (this time) and home by 9, which is not nearly as bad as it could have been.
--------------------
Then, this morning, my car refused to start.
AAA showed up in a mere 2.5 hours and towed it to the Subaru dealer, who promises to have it fixed by tonight. At least I got to sit in my warm house and wait. It could've been worse - all I lose is half a day of work, and the thing needed service anyway - but, y'know, this sh*t really can stop.

We'll do what we can to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Date: 2007-01-17 07:34 pm (UTC)Oh, wow, that's awful. I've been there twice with Quinn, once when he fell face-first onto a gravel path and once when he fell off his bike. It stops your heart right cold, it does. So glad to hear it wasn't worse!

Date: 2007-01-17 08:15 pm (UTC)guess he won't be trying that maneuver again for a while?
With this child I really can't say. I'll admit it has been a while since our last ER visit. On the other hand, he does show a certain reluctance to learn a few basic physics lessons...
