... but I can't quite join in yet. Just off the phone with the car shop and the repairs will be over double what was previously expected. Most of which is due to the discovery of needing new brakes.

Part of me is thinking "hey, you COULD discover you need new brakes by having them fail at 65MPH on the highway when you really need them." And then there's the part that is looking in dismay at our bank balance, once again.

Brakes failing at 65 MPH (or 16 MPH for that matter) would ultimately be much more expensive. But I can see why you're aggravated....

Financial trouble always sucks.

But I was in a serious car accident ten years ago that put me in a wheelchair for a year, after my steering failed at 65 MPH. Trust me; discovering that your brakes need repairing while the car is in the shop is definitely the way to go!

Cars, children and pets KNOW when an unexpected large expense is the least convenient. I don't know how, but they do. Especially cars.

And this whole post makes more sense now that I re-read your subject as "Eris" not "Elvis".

seven months ago, three months, 45 mph -- otherwise, what she said.

Eit. *hands you a second can of Shit-B-Gon*

Yeah, nothing like being socked with a giant car repair bill when the bank balance is already on the low side.

Yikes. Sorry to hear that happened to you!

New brakes doubled my last car repair (a new wheel bearing) too, but I guess it was a better way of finding out.
