Dental Saga, part 3
Nov. 1st, 2011 03:52 pmSummary: OW.
I continue to be a mutant. I have... err, had a lot of gum tissue. No, really, a lot. Three rounds of that, plus some bone surgery to create a space for the gum tissue she wasn't taking out. Totaled about three hours in the chair. Blood still tastes funny. The tooth is still salvageable but capping it (in a month) is going to require some creative dentistry.
Lots of novocaine, thank goodness, but it's going to hurt like fuck when that wears off. I've got 4 prescriptions: Vicodin for pain, something else to reduce swelling, an antibiotic, and a special mouthwash because I can't brush on that side for 10 days and putting alcohol (which all the commercial mouthwashes have) on it would be BAD, Ray.
No spitting, no using a straw, and no sleeping on that side. Annoying, as that's the side I usually do sleep on. Ice pack on my jaw for now. Foods not too hot or cold.
Could be a lot worse. But still... ow.
Side story: while I was being operated on they had an in-office emergency that turned out to be some guy who passed out just from discussion of dental surgery in the waiting area. Poor guy.
